| Settling In |
Once a place at the school has been offered and accepted. Parents and children are invited to spend an induction day at the school. This will normally be during the week prior to the beginning of their chosen term.
The induction provides an opportunity for staff to meet the children and establish a partnership with the parents and carers. The daily routine, work cycles and school environment are introduced to the family as a whole. This introduction is an opportunity for lead teachers to collect information that provides the foundation for each child’s personal profile. During this session, parents will be given a welcome pack that is designed to help them support their children’s early learning needs. Children will be given their book bags, sun hats and ‘wellie’ bags.
The induction day is a vital component of the schools settling in process. The information acquired during this session aids both staff and parents with the knowledge and understanding to support each child’s individual transition from home to school. Establishing a positive attitude towards school and learning is of paramount importance during the settling in period. |
